After OFNHP members filed complaints with the National Labor Relations Board, the federal agency charged with protecting workers rights and overseeing union elections, conducted an investigation and found that Peace Health violated the law.
OFNHP members at KPNW won important agreements in Continuing Care Services, Urgent Care, and Emergency Psychiatric Services in June. Take a look at how our departmental bargaining teams were able to improve the conditions for OFNHP members and their patients.
OFNHP stewards are at it again--enforcing our contracts to protect our hard-won wages and benefits! For the last two years, PeaceHealth has incorrectly calculated PTO by not including evening and night shift differentials in the pay. Stewards grieved the issue and prevailed, returning over $200,000 to the pockets of our members! Thanks to the perseverance of our stewards, management has fixed their practice, and more than 550 members who got short-changed will see backpay on their next paycheck!
On May 29, the Surgical Support Aides and the Rad Tech Student Coordinator at PHSW voted to join OFNHP! They join nearly 1500 OFNHP members working in the PeaceHealth system in the Northwest.
What makes this possible? Part of the dues we contribute as union members goes to supporting non-union workers who want to join with us. It's how we continue to build strength in our industry for better contracts!
"Your union dues spent wisely. Thank you for welcoming me."
-- Heather Cassavoy, Student Coordinator, Rad Tech
On May 22, 2018 Alliance unions will begin coordinated bargaining for a new agreement with Kaiser Permanente.
The intent of the Alliance of Health Care Unions has not changed: Alliance unions are united in our commitment to bargain a full and fair contract for all of our members. To this end, representatives of Alliance unions are meeting with KP on Thursday, May 10 to finalize logistics and timeframes for bargaining.
April 16, 2018 - The Alliance of Health Care Unions (AHCU)–21 local unions representing frontline health professionals at Kaiser Permanente facilities across the country–made big progress last week.
At the inaugural meeting April 10-11, the AHCU formed our new Executive Board, confirmed Peter diCicco as our Executive Director, and drafted our founding documents that ensure each local union has a voice in our Alliance.
OFNHP and our AHCU partner unions also met individually with senior Kaiser management to discuss our future relationship as an Alliance.
