PORTLAND, Ore.—AFT President Randi Weingarten, U.S. Rep. Maxine Dexter, D-Ore., and a Kaiser patient will hold a news conference on Oct. 17 at a picket line of striking Kaiser Permanente healthcare workers to show their strong support for the caregivers.

About 4,000 members of the Oregon Federation of Nurses and Health Professionals, an affiliate of AFT, have been on strike since Tuesday.

After over 1,300 workers announced that they will walk out to strike this coming Monday, October 23rd, PeaceHealth decided to walk away from the bargaining table.
