We will be showing support to ONA members as they fight for justice. Together we have the power to send a clear message: workers cannot be ignored. Let’s show up, stand strong, and prove that when we fight together, we win together! There are a number of ways in which they need your help.
Sign our petition to pledge that you will not cross the picket line and act as a strikebreaking worker. As you know, Providence will be hiring strikebreaking workers, just as all workplaces do during a strike, and this is done as a way to break up the power of the union. The most important thing you can do is commit to not working for Providence in any capacity while the strike is going on. Click here to sign your name and pledge to not break the strike.
Donate to the strike fund: This is an open-ended strike so that means that a lot of healthcare professionals could be without a salary for an indeterminate amount of time. Your financial support is critical to giving this strike the power it needs. Click here to donate to the ONA strike fund.
Join the picket line: They need people to join them on the picket line as community members and fellow healthcare professionals, and these picket lines are happening around the state. Click here to view the strike map and see where you can join the strike line. Even if you can only come for a little while, it is important that you let them know you are there and that they have your support. This is an open-ended strike so there is no set end date. You can also click here to sign up for strike shifts.
Sign their petition: Patients and community members need to speak up in support of these workers. Sign their public petition here.
Many of our members came to their Saturday, January 11th rally with political, labor, and nurse leaders! Click here to watch the video from it. You can click here to find out all the ways you can support ONA workers at their "Patient's Over Profits" page.
For those who are coming out to the strike line we are calling for a RED BLOC! This means that we want you to wear OFNHP gear and colors to show everyone that our union is fully in support of the ONA members. There will be an additional public action next week, the details will be made available soon.
We want to encourage you to show your support as an OFNHP member, so make sure to email our Communications Organizers (SBurley@ofnhp.org) with any photos that you take from the picket line that have OFNHP members in them.
We also have several ways to take action on social media, so click the links below and share these posts or add them to your Instagram or Facebook Stories so that we can boost the voices of those walking the picket line.
The most important action we can take right now is to stand boldly and proudly with these healthcare professionals. Our strength as working people multiplies when we unite in solidarity across workplaces and unions. Together, we have the power to transform not just our workplaces but the entire healthcare system. Let’s build the kind of unwavering solidarity that drives real and lasting change for workers, patients, and our communities. Keep in mind that as with all strikes, an agreement could be reached at any moment, so stay tuned for updates as they happen.
