Labcorp Tentative Agreement, Info Sessions, and Ratification Voting

We have officially reached a Tentative Agreement (TA) on a historic first contract for Labcorp workers. After more than a year of organizing and bargaining, we pushed management to agree to common sense changes that will improve the lives of our members and help build a strong future for patient care. We took on one of the largest companies in the world, who said they would never become unionized, and we did what so many believed was impossible.

Read below to learn about the major wins in this TA, along with upcoming information sessions and details about the upcoming voting period.

Topline Wins from Our Tentative Agreement (TA)

Below are the summaries of the major articles that are included in our recently TA’d contract. This contract includes huge gains, and here are some clear summaries of the major wins.

This contract includes dramatic improvements, including

  • The average wage increase in this contract is over 9% in the two years of the contract, with most workers making between 7-15% wage increase across the life of the contract. Some workers received wage raises as high as nearly 30% due to their previous wage being below our newly won scale. This comes alongside a predictable wage scale that will help to keep wages fair and to attract and retain qualified staff.
  • $800 ratification bonus to all full and part-time staff and casuals.
  • We will have the ability to confront management behavior and influence the direction of the workplace through features like the Labor Partnership Committee, the Grievance Procedure, and Just Cause protections.
  • Critical shift incentive that allows employees to advocate for higher wages to fill critical gaps in staffing.
  • Language around Safe and Quality Care, which will hold Labcorp to a higher standard of care for our patients.
  • Predictable schedules are now ensured for four weeks in advance.
  • Seniority language, including “bidding rights,” ensuring staff preferences for longtime employees.

Info Sessions and Voting

It’s time for you to learn more about what’s in your contract and have a chance to read it all for yourself! We will have a number of worksite and Zoom meetings so you can learn about what’s in there, get your questions answered, and learn everything you need to cast an educated vote!

Voting will also begin the first day of the information sessions (March 9th) and continue for a week. You will vote on whether or not to ratify the new contract as a whole, and the bargaining team is giving a unanimous endorsement of a “Yes” vote. You will receive your ballot by email and you can also attend one of the informational sessions to vote in person while you ask questions.

We will have expanded summaries available to you so you can read over what’s in the contract, as well as the entire agreement itself. We also encourage you to look over our bargaining updates since they also have everything that we have agreed to during negotiations. For our Q&A hours, union staff and bargaining team members will be available to answer questions, but if you want to view the entire presentation you will have to attend our formal presentation times.
