FOCUS: INPATIENT RNS
Bernadette has been in healthcare for 37 years, with 26 of those in nursing. The majority of her nursing career has been in the ICU and Neuro ICU. She came to Kaiser in 2020 to work in the PACU at WMC. She recognized the importance of unions as an ED tech in Alaska in the mid-90s, when she watched her nursing coworkers go on strike for fair wages and benefits, winning a contract after a long fight with the backing of the community both inside and outside the hospital. Bernadette was a steward at Providence prior to coming to Kaiser in 2020 and has been a steward with Kaiser for roughly four years. Bernadette enjoys cooking, travel, and gardening in her free time. She is looking forward to better understanding the complex workflows in different areas and helping to ensure the contract is fairly enforced.
