April 16, 2018 - The Alliance of Health Care Unions (AHCU)–21 local unions representing frontline health professionals at Kaiser Permanente facilities across the country–made big progress last week.
At the inaugural meeting April 10-11, the AHCU formed our new Executive Board, confirmed Peter diCicco as our Executive Director, and drafted our founding documents that ensure each local union has a voice in our Alliance.
OFNHP and our AHCU partner unions also met individually with senior Kaiser management to discuss our future relationship as an Alliance.
We asked Kaiser to recognize our Alliance and move quickly to engage with us in bargaining1, using the 2015 National Agreement as the foundation.
Alliance unions are committed to the Partnership, as we have been for over 20 years. We also recognize that’s it not perfect. Management, at all levels, needs to demonstrate a commitment to partnership and to making it work better for everyone.
We’re hopeful about this opportunity to give the LMP a reboot and put our Partnership back in action in the Northwest.
