SMC Flash Action: We Care About Your Care!

“Together we stand. Together we fight. Safe patient care is a right!”

On Wednesday June 11 we held a successful flash freeze action at SMC. Over 40 RNs packed the cafeteria at noon for a fun 3 minute action to raise awareness about how the changes management wants to impose on our union contract will affect our working conditions and our ability to deliver safe patient care.

We slowly entered the seating area waiting until noon when the signal came to freeze. Then we posed on command with partners in different caring positions or with the banners that carried our message. When the whistle blew again, we chanted in unison “Together we stand. Together we fight. Safe patient care is a right!” We also distributed flyers explaining why we are organizing and how we’re united to protect what matters most- the quality of care in our hospital system.

THANK YOU to all of you who joined us for today’s action.  Working together,  we can protect our contract, our working conditions, and show patients we care about their care.
