2015 THIP Bonus is Here!

More than 85 percent of employees eligible for the 2015 Total Health Incentive Plan in the NW region have maintained up-to-date screenings for body mass index (BMI), cholesterol, blood pressure, and smoking. The THIP is a negotiated benefit as part of the National Agreement.

As a result, represented KP employees will receive a $150* payment (before taxes) in your September 30 paycheck. The payment will appear on your pay statement as “THIP Bonus: Scrnings.”

Health Is a Team Sport: Everyone Has a Reason to be Healthy

Improving our health in the workplace is truly a team sport. The Total Health Incentive Plan (THIP) — bargained by Kaiser Permanente and the Coalition of Kaiser Permanente Unions — was designed to help employees thrive at work and at home, build a supportive culture of health, and make cash rewards available for collective success.

For the 2016 THIP year, you have another opportunity to earn a bonus:

  • The Health Screenings Gate: This goal is designed to encourage you to maintain up-to-date screenings. You can earn a maximum payout of $150 if your region collectively demonstrates an increase among eligible employees in up-to-date screenings across six measures: body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, and smoking; and breast, cervical, and colorectal cancer.
  • The Health Improvement Goals: If a region meets the Health Screenings Gate, then you can also earn up to an additional $350 for collective achievement of the Health Improvement Goals. These goals are designed to encourage you to improve in three areas, each with its own payout structure: body mass index (BMI), blood pressure, and smoking.

Achievement of both the Health Screenings Gate and the Health Improvement Goals will be determined by comparing regional rates measured as of December 31, 2015, (baseline), with regional rates measured as of December 31, 2016.

*Depending on several factors, including any request you may have specified to have additional federal or state taxes withheld from your pay, net payment will vary.

PLEASE NOTE: Kaiser Permanente as the employer will not receive any of your personal biometric information. The incentive is measured on collective achievement, biometric data is reviewed in the aggregate, and individual names are not associated with the data. That means that no manager, facility, or region will have access to individual employee biometric information. All personal information remains confidential and in compliance with all HIPAA and applicable state privacy laws.
